Breckon Hill Community Centre was purpose built with funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the National Lottery. Created in 2004 the centre is used to deliver a range of community services which are aimed at educational, recreational and social activities.
The Community Centre is managed by a charitable organisation made up of 8 local residents who dedicate time to ensuring the services within the centre responds to local community needs.
The staff and volunteers have built an outstanding reputation of working in partnership with many private and community sector organisations to ensure local needs are met. With a unique approach to community development the centre remains a hub within the community and engages with over 300 individuals each week
The staff team consists of:
Amanda Buck – Centre Manager
Amanda has managed the centre since the doors open in 2004 and has experience of managing facilities in rural and urban communities. Amanda has managed several facilities at the same time, applying and sharing best practice between Charitable organisations.
Chris Williams – Caretaker
Chris is new to the team in 2019 and is responsible for managing the evening and weekend activities. Chris ensures the building is maintained to a high standard of Health & Safety.
Sue Anderson – Tutor
Sue has been part of the team since 2014 and has brought a new approach to improving mental health and well being into Breckon Hill. Sue delivers the 3 Principle’s of Mind, Thought and Consciousness.
