Breckon Hill Community Centre
“Together we can”
Welcome to Breckon Hill Community Centre.
This purpose-built centre was opened to the public in April 2004 in response to a community need, determined by the successful centre in Douglas Street, using a hut provided free of charge by the heads of what was then Longlands College.
We are a busy, friendly centre located in the University Ward not far from the town centre of
Created to provide a safe environment for local residents, children and families, the facility provides courses in a wide variety of subjects in addition to social activities and educational events. The centre has a management committee consisting of residents experienced in may fields, a mixture of youth and age, from both the white and ethnic groups, happily joining together to work for the community as a whole.
On entering the building you are greeted with an informal, bright café and social seating area, from which you can purchase hot and cold meals and refreshments from our community café.
The modern facilities and the warm, friendly atmosphere of the Community Centre make this an ideal venue for conferences, meetings, parties and training activities – a claim borne out by the many compliments and letters of appreciation we regularly receive.
